The Kessler Foundation, and the Tri-State Region of WSUSA
are proud to sponsor the Fifth year of the WheelBlazer Grand Prix. 

The Grand Prix is a program to promote athletics in the Tri-State wheelchair community. 
 

The program has 3 goals:

  • To promote year round exercise,

  • To increase the number of Tri-State wheelchair athletes,

  • To ease the transition from Juniors to Adult sports.

The Grand Prix will consist of wheelchair athletes registering  and racing in a number of races. Athletes accumulate points based on their finish time verses the race record time for their division. 
Athletes compete in 1 of the following divisions:

  • Adult Male

  • Adult Female,

  • Quad,

  • Junior Male,

  • Junior Female,

  • E Male

  • E Female,

  • Master Male

  • Master Female

  • Grand Master

Races with the most points will receive recognition and prize money at an end-of-season.
 

Program Rating 5 - The Grand Prix offers a series to keep all athletes pushing
 
Rating 1 to 5 where 5 is the best

**  IF AN ATHLETE DOES BOTH THE TRI-STATE ROAD RACE ON MAY 16TH AND TRACK EVENT ON THE 17TH. THE ROAD EVENT WILL BE THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT AND THE TRACK EVENT WILL BE A NON CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT.

R U L E S

1) In 2009 The $30.00 fee to participate is waived.

2) Membership:
  •  You do not have to be a member of the Kessler Foundation 
      WheelBlazer racing team. 
  •  You MUST BE a member of WSUSA.To compete in
      - the Tri-State Regional 5K (TRACK OR ROAD)
      - the Mason 5K 

3) Participants must race a minimum of

  •  Four (4) WBGP races to be included.
  •  Two (2) of the four races must be Championship races.

4) Bonus Points will be awarded as follows:

  •  By participating in non-WBGP races, with results forwarded to
        Phil Galli -  philg1234@comcast.net .
  •  A maximum of 4 Bonus races will be posted,
  •  Bonus points are based on participation only, not on course time. 
      -  5K or 10K race 100 Points,
      -  > 10K, 200 Points.

5) Final Year Standings are calculated from:

  • Top six WBGP scores.
  • UP TO 4  Non-WBGP bonus races.

6) The Season:

  • Begin March 1st
  • End November 30th.

7) No hand cyclists. Push-rim wheelchairs only.
